AI for robotics

Within the AI for robotics track, IDLab contributes to application scenarios where robots & AGVs operate in real world environments and support people with physical tasks. We have profound expertise within following research topics:

  • Manipulation - supporting grasping & manipulating deformable objects, pick & place, assembly and workspace understanding.
  • Motion planning and control - for long term reasoning and planning of tasks, multi-agent swarm intelligence, deployment and coordination of distributed autonomous agents.
  • Human-robot interaction - enabling social robotics & cognitive systems.
  • Robot perception - to enable robots to understand and interact with the world for exploration, obstacle avoidance and (indoor) localisation.

This research is performed within multiple use case domains, including Home ( e.g., a personal home assistant able to fold cloths), Industry 5.0 (e.g., pick and place) and Healthcare (e.g., elderly care assistant).
