Andreas Verleysen is a robotics and AI specialist with a passion for applying cutting-edge research to solve real-world challenges. His career began as an optimization consultant for a startup, where he spent three years developing vehicle routing problem software. In 2022, he earned his PhD in robotics and AI, with a specialization in robot manipulation of deformable objects. 

Andreas is driven by a love for technology and a desire to push the boundaries of innovation. He applies state-of-the-art research to create impactful, real-world applications. Currently, he is focused on bringing advanced robotics and AI solutions to industry, using the latest innovations in AI, sensing, motion optimization, on-edge signal processing, gripper design, and modeling to help companies and researchers develop the next generation of tomorrow’s robot helpers. 

As co-leader of the manipulation track at AIRO, Andreas is working to create a general-purpose robotic assistant aimed at automating repetitive tasks. He also collaborates with Francis wyffels to teach a unique course on Intelligent Robot Manipulation, helping to educate the next generation of roboticists.
