Last week we presented our paper "Fine-Grained Coordinated OFDMA With Fiber Backhaul Enabled by openwifi and White Rabbit" by Thijs Havinga, Xianjun Jiao, Wei Liu, Baiheng Chen, Robbe Gaeremynck and Ingrid Moerman at WiNTECH, a workshop co-located with MobiCom in Hong Kong. For this we received the Best Paper Award. The paper is about a potential feature for Wi-Fi 8, which we realize using our in-house project openwifi and another open-source project by CERN, White Rabbit.
By using coordination over a fiber backhaul between two access points, they can send at the same time, while either uses only one half of the channel. In this way the hidden-node problem for clients in the middle can be circumvented, and lower latency can be achieved.
